The shirt is one of the most adored clothes by men. But to look good in a shirt, it is important that it fits the wearer. So what are the different sizes of classic shirts that exist and what are the dimensions?
The different sizes of classic shirts
The various stores and ready to wear clothing are filled with shirts of different brands and different models. But not all these shirts have the same size. This is normal because men do not all have the same morphology.
To help everyone find the right shirt size quickly and easily, shirts are sewn according to certain standard sizes. These classic or standard shirt sizes are generally five in number and are identified by codes.
So we have the code XS which designates the very small size (Extra small), the code S to designate the small size (Small), the code M to designate the medium size (Medium), the size L for the large size (Large) and finally the size XL for the very large size (Extra Large).
Dimensions of classic shirt sizes
The different sizes of shirts mentioned above each have well defined dimensions. In the majority of European and French-speaking countries, these dimensions are indicated in centimeters, while in Anglo-Saxon countries, they are marked in inches.
- The dimensions of size S
The neck size is between 37 and 38 cm. Its chest size is 92 cm for a sleeve length ( 82 cm).
- The dimensions of the size M
As for the size M, its neck size is 39 to 40 cm with a chest size of 97 cm. For this size, the sleeve length is 84 cm.
- The dimensions of the size L
The size follows the size M and has a neck size of 41 cm and 42 cm. It has a chest circumference of 102 cm and a sleeve length of 86 cm.
- The dimensions of the size XL
Neck circumference (43-44 cm), chest circumference (107 cm), sleeve length (88 cm).
